Jade is actinolite (a pyroxene mineral), Ca2(Mg,Fe)5(OH)2(SiO11)
jade as a mineral
hardness: 5 to 6
Jade is the gemstone that is the most resistant to breakage.  This resistance is a result of
actinolite fibers occuriing in an interwoven matted structure.
