Amazonite is microcline feldspar, KAlSi3O8
hardness: 6
microcline feldspar as a mineral

Amazonite is also known as amazonstone.
The Pikes Peak area is one of the top producers of amazonite in the world.
One factor working against amazonite as a gem is that it is a feldspar with a
well-developed cleavage.  If amazonite beads bang into each other, it can
cause the bead to split in half.
