garnet-variety uvarovite
The garnet family of silicate minerals
all contain a +2 cation and a +3 cation. Uvarovite is one of
the rarest
members of the garnet family. The +2 cation is calcium and the +3 element
is chromium.
Uvarovite rarely forms single large crystals. Instead
it usually occurs as massive clusters of tiny
green crystals.
