Cinder cones are extremely vulnerable to weathering and erosion.  In the Andes there many
examples where the structures of the volcanoes have been nearly, completely eroded away
leaving only irregular circular outlines indicated by color and drainage patterns.  The circular
patterns are referred to as "ghost" volcanoes.
