     Under pressure from South America moving to the West and the Nazca oceanic plate moving to the
East, the rocks and volcanoes in the central Andes Mountains are slowly being crushed and folded.  The
folds in the central Andes are good indicators of the tremendous forces involved in this collision.  The
folds themselves are beautiful to behold.
