 Accomplishments: Scholarships and Grants

Aug. 2006  – June 2007

1.        Aug. 2006 – Donated funds to City of Sierra Vista One Book, One Community project.

2.        Nov. 2006 - Provided $500.00 in assistance to the Carmichael Elementary School PTSO family Resource Center.

3.        Mar. 2007 – Provided $280.00 to the Sierra Vista Public Schools for two student summer school scholarships

4.        April 2007 - Financial assistance to Cinderella Program Participant.

5.        April 2007 – Council Members participated in the City of Sierra Vista West-End Block Party and the Diversity Fair.

6.        April 2007 – Sponsored Boy Scouts of America Troop 440 and Pack 440 Naco, AZ. Provided $300.00 financial assistance for miscellaneous expenses.

7.        May 2007 - LULAC Council 1080 held it’s annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta at the Veterans Memorial Park in Sierra Vista on May 4 - 6, 2007. There was a carnival,  a traditional China Poblana contest, food vendors, sales of arts and crafts items. Also folklorico dancers and dances Friday  and Saturday night. The Council awarded $600.00 in savings bonds to the China Poblana Contest winners, $300 first, $200 second and $100 third.

8.        May 2007 – Awarded 20 scholarships in the total amount of $11,225. The Council   awarded 8 scholarships to Buena High School Seniors, 12 to Cochise College students and one to a continuing college student.
